ZipTie is Now NetworkAuthority Inventory

At AlterPoint our focus is the network. It’s what we do, and we do it really well. We create software that helps you take back control of the network and achieve genuine business value. Controlling network inventory shouldn’t cost you a fortune. In fact, we believe it shouldn’t cost you anything. It’s why we sponsored the ZipTie open source project and continue to offer the same capabilities in NetworkAuthority Inventory.

Why the name change?

The ZipTie open source project and a community formed in November 2006. Now with nearly a half million devices under management, and thanks to the efforts and feedback of the community over the past two years, the ZipTie product has matured and stabilized enough to become part of the NetworkAuthority family of products. The source code to product will remain open and accessible to those community members that wish to make their own changes and enhancements.

NetworkAuthority Inventory has the same capabilities as ZipTie, but with a new and improved web-based interface, enhanced search and discovery capabilities and roles-based management. The product is downloadable and can be used freely for internal business purposes (click here to view license).

Community Support

The NetworkAuthority Inventory community will remain intact as a place for users to share tools, device adapters, and experience. Members can continue to create or import their own custom tools or download them from the NetworkAuthority Inventory community. Anyone can contribute content. Once added, the community can immediately download the open content and use it in their local NetworkAuthority Inventory installations. AlterPoint will continue to verify contributions and test them for security, reliability, and compatibility.
